OLF SJ Case... what fits...

Today I took a print down off my window that Michael sent me. It has no dimensions for major body sizes so I whipped out the ruler. Here are the dimensions:

OLF SJ          Olson SJ
11 5/8"          11 3/16"        Upper Bout
9 3/4"          & nbsp; 9 1/4"         Waist
15 1/2"          15 1/8"         Lower Bout
20"           & nbsp;   19 1/2"        Length of Body

So, this guitar is basically dreadnaught in width and length, should fit in a Dred case except for the waist. Anyone tried it? That means we can ship the OLF Guitar #2 Project in a dred case.Bruce Dickey38777.7632175926

Probably the TKL allows for a 12 String as well. SJ and Dred should be the same with 25.4" scale.

Yes it fits a dread case the body length should be (if you held your mouth just right )19-15/16". Everyone keep saying it does not match the OSJ. It was never intended to. When I designed the OLF SJ I did not have an SJ in my stable. But I did have a bending form I got from Lance a while back. I took the shape off that form.

So see if you’re going to throw rocks, throw them at Lance    Just kidding of course. Please no rocks    I love this shape size and tonal response of this guitar it is my favorite to build and play. And I never thought anything would replace an OM as my favorite to play. But I have to say this has. It also makes a killer 12 string with very little modification.

I'll pass on this information again for you...

Ameritage now makes an SJ case that will fit the OLF SJ very snuggly. It was designed to fit my SJ (which is similar to an Olson) but then made a bit larger to accomodate the OLF SJ nicely. So in a sense, it was made specifically for the OLF SJ design.
Try one out if you build one of these guitars...you won't be sorry.

It is a good design. The point is, it's much larger than the "famous" SJ.

Matter of fact it's a kissing cousin to the Taylor Grand Auditorium with it's shape, would just need about a half inch added in the lower bout.

Okay, who designed this SJ, since it came from Lance, where'd he get it?

My design outside the body boundries i.e. my depth and braceing design and so on. I don't know where Lance got the body dimensions from. I know he built the form I copied the shape from or at least believe he did.

My SJ is slightly larger than the OLF one (Body Length 20-1/8” Upper Width 11-1/2”,waist 10 3/4", Lower Width 16”, Max. Depth 4-3/4”) and the TKL SJ Elite Cases Fit it like a glove . TKL has the cases made here in Canada so we buy them before the TKL name plate goes on. I to sell them for $125US (TKL lists them at $267.95) but for the OLF Project if you want one I could get one at cost here

Hi Richard, that is a great deal and would probably fit well. Michael Payne is onto a case for the guitar project. If that doesn't work we will definitely have to go another route.

Apparently Paul is done with the back on this guitar and is shipping it and the mold to Arkansas. When it leaves here next week, it really should be in a case. Shipping from Canada to the USA, I have no idea of a timeline.

I shipped two sets of Bubinga to Ontario and Customs held it for about 4 weeks. Anyway, this is Michael's area. I was just aware that this was beginning to need the protection of a case very soon. Thanks for the offer. Michael?

Bruce, I've bought wood from Canada on numerous occasions and it gets here just as fast as from the West Coast.

I have had stuff from the states come into canada and take 4 days, other stuff has taken up to 4 months. Stuff going into the states is ussually pretty quick though. It all depends. arvey38780.0826967593
